An arsonist struck the Edgebrook Lutheran Church of Edgebrook, Ill. This English Village architecturally designed church, education wing and parsonage sustained moderate exterior damage and extensive interior damage to the sanctuary and moderate interior damage to the parsonage and education wing.
The Edgebrook church incorporates the low, heavy side wall and steep roof, short parapet topped towers of Norman influence along with high pointed Gothic style stained glass windows. The interior is decorated in a classical period design, with the exposed glue lam beams, exposed wood deck decorated with the grape and vine motif, an ancient symbol for the Sacrament of the Altar as well as a symbol of the unity of the church with Christ.
The church reconstruction committee immediately recognized the need to retain the 2010 Master Builder Award winning reconstruction company of GTB/TC3 for the emergency mitigation, construction management and general contracting for the reconstruction of their sanctuary. TC3 and the Edgebrook Lutheran Church will work in partnership to have the parsonage basement back online for the church temporary offices within 2 weeks and the education wing to be back online for church services by Easter.
